An exclusive interview with Dr Navsharan Singh
The agony of partition has not faded away, which is reflected in our public policy. Governments are manipulating the same on both sides of the border between India and Pakistan. Senior Programme Specialist, International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Canada, Dr Navsharan Singh says thousands of Muslim and Hindu women were wronged by their own communities during the 1947 holocaust that mostly occurred in the Punjab. And now, a sustainable peace cannot be restored in the region unless the whole episode is reconciled with history and truth. This would fix responsibility upon those who had committed atrocities. In an exclusive Punjabi interview with Tahir Dhindsa, Dr Singh says holding of a frank dialogue on the issue is the first step towards this grand reconciliation.
